Welcome to our new travel blog! We’re thrilled to embark on this adventure with you as we explore some of the world’s most captivating destinations. Our inaugural journey takes us to the sun-kissed region of Puglia in Southern Italy, where ancient history, stunning landscapes, and mouthwatering cuisine await.
Day 1: Arrival in Bari
Our journey begins as we touch down in Bari, the capital city of Puglia. Stepping off the plane, we’re immediately enveloped in the warm Mediterranean breeze and the unmistakable scent of olive groves. After checking into our charming bed and breakfast in the heart of the old town, we waste no time immersing ourselves in the city’s rich history.
Wandering through Bari’s maze-like streets, we stumble upon the imposing Basilica di San Nicola, dedicated to the beloved saint who inspired the legend of Santa Claus. As the sun begins to set, we make our way to the bustling Piazza del Ferrarese, where we feast on freshly caught seafood and savor our first taste of Puglian wine.
Day 2: Trulli Magic in Alberobello
On day two, we set out to discover one of Puglia’s most iconic sights: the fairytale town of Alberobello. Famous for its unique trulli houses with conical roofs, this UNESCO World Heritage site feels like something straight out of a storybook.
As we meander through the cobblestone streets, we can’t help but marvel at the ingenuity of the trulli construction, which dates back to the 14th century. We climb to the top of the Rione Monti district for panoramic views of the whitewashed buildings and rolling countryside below, truly a sight to behold Travestihd.com.
Day 3: Coastal Charms of Polignano a Mare
No visit to Puglia would be complete without experiencing its breathtaking coastline, and today we’re off to explore the coastal gem of Polignano a Mare. Perched atop towering limestone cliffs overlooking the Adriatic Sea, this picturesque town is a haven for sun seekers and adrenaline junkies alike.
After soaking up the sun on one of Polignano’s secluded beaches, we embark on a thrilling boat tour of the sea caves that dot the coastline. Gliding through crystal-clear waters, we marvel at the ancient rock formations and hidden grottoes that have been carved by centuries of wind and waves.
Day 4: Culinary Delights in Ostuni
Our final day in Puglia is dedicated to one of life’s greatest pleasures: food. We make our way to the dazzling white city of Ostuni, known as the “White Pearl of Puglia,” where we’re treated to a culinary adventure like no other.
We start our day with a visit to a local olive oil mill, where we learn about the ancient tradition of olive oil production and sample some of the finest oils in the region. Then it’s off to a hands-on cooking class, where we roll up our sleeves and learn to prepare traditional Puglian dishes like orecchiette pasta with broccoli rabe and freshly caught sea bass baked in a salt crust.
As the sun sets on our final evening in Puglia, we raise our glasses in a toast to the unforgettable experiences and lifelong memories we’ve made in this enchanting corner of Italy. From the ancient streets of Bari to the stunning coastline of Polignano a Mare, Puglia has captured our hearts and left us longing to return again soon.
